Home grown kaffir lime leaves

posted Thursday, 22 October 2009

And one of them is really going for it. They're difficult seeds to grow. The one I reported on last time died. That was the third one to cop it. They seem to grow with their hats on - kinda get stuck under their seed husk. I tried picking it off but only one was sucessful and that was the last one - but then it died for some other reason.

The five I have now are looking good but four are still small and could still fail. The one really nice one has a big almost full-sized leaf so I reckon it is going to make it for sure. I've got a chilli plant too and some basil, so next spring we'll be eating tom yam veg made with our own seasonings (well, the galangal and lemongrass will still be from a packet).

Here are a few more recipes with lime leaves:

Aubergine and coconut curry

Hat Yai bus station fried rice

Spinach and lemon potatoes

Vegetarian green curry

Thai-style tofu burgers

Pineapple and tofu red curry
